You'll See These Faces n More

Blessed are the Broodmares. Please breed with restraint.  We are facing a glut in our industry and many well bred mares and youngstock are going to slaughter.  It's much less expensive right now to buy a well bred baby than to pay stud fees (or feed a stallion), and feed your mare for a year and a half til baby is weaned.  Both of our mares are bred for horses we will raise and they will not be bred again until the market indicates it's wise to do so.

Chica, my last and only Quarter Pony broodmare, about to go into saddle horse training, as soon as she weans her '08 baby. I gelded and sold my stallion, and am retiring my breeding program. We raise nice horses but there are just too many of them out there, right now, for the amount of people wanting a young horse.

Ginger is an 8 year old grade mare, Paint and probably some Belgian, somewhere back in her not too far away history.  I brought her in as a sales prospect, my husband fell head over heels in love with her (though she's not his only love, fickle man!). I started riding her as she hadn't had anything done with her in five years, and now I love her too!  Her jobs will be carrying Arron and I on trail rides, team sorting, and when she's advanced and steady enough, she'll give lessons. Ginger will earn her hay bales at Good Hands!

These are three now two year olds being raised here at Good Hands. Tristan, the sorrel gelding is out of Chica, above. He's a Peppy San Badger bred Quarter Pony and we look forward to great things from him.  The black colt with the star and snip is a nicely bred Paint solid bred, and will be started this fall.  The cute, leggy, dark brown filly is a sport horse bred girl, brought down out of Canada. Sasha will be my dressage/English project in the years  come and might dabble in some Competitve Trail Riding as well. We get into all sorts of stuff around here!

Moonshine is a 2002 model Percheron/Arabian cross.  Again, I am seeing dollars, my husband sees . . . "New horse!"  Moonshine has been started under saddle and I will be developing her this year and will see if she has what it takes to fill those big ole horseshoes, left behind by our beloved Cooke Monster. I am also seeing one heck of a dressage prospect here!

Arron and Cookie, great partners.  We lost this good horse October 2006, Rest In Peace, We will miss you forever.
